Arriving in Alta

We reached port in Alta around noon. This was our first port stop since leaving Bergen. We will go on a tour tomorrow that will take us to a church and museum. But we decided to take the Viking provided shuttle bus to the city center. It was maybe a 10 minute bus ride.

The 3 Antartica adventure girls at about 70N wearing our Antartica red coats.
The Waterford/Oakland/Honolulu Moore/Davies/Ballard in Alta.
Home away from home. The Vela is about 2 years old.
We stayed a little while in town and wandered through a couple stores. You can see the line of people looking to get back on board behind us.

Upon our return to the ship, we had dinner in the World Cafe, which included lobster tails. 🦞

Dad’s half lobster tail, a large amount of salmon (that he thought was lobster), and his white wine.
Mom’s half lobster tail, beer and cheddar soup, and white wine.

My sister and I then bundled up for our evening excursion to search for the northern lights. Stay tuned!
