First day in Tromso

We awoke in Tromso, and had a tour scheduled to see the Artic Cathedral and the planetarium. We headed out on the tour bus with our first stop the planetarium at the University of Tromso, to watch a video about the northern lights.

Walking from the ship to our tour bus.
Heading into the planetarium.

From there we went to the Artic Cathedral.

Before heading inside, after a careful walk up a snowy/icy ramp.

Dad and I then ventured outside.
Great views from just outside the church.

When we got back, my sister and I took a shuttle bus into the city center. I was going to do some shopping, and she had decided to do another excursion to chase the northern lights. Similar to what we had done in Alta – board a bus and they would try to find a good location to view them.

I checked our a souvenir shop, a discount shop called Normal, and a shopping center (which included a pharmacy because I needed some saline spray – its been very dry).

Normal was an interesting store. Lot of health and beauty items, with various snack foods mixed in, and cleaning supplies. This particular display caught my attention.

I then took the shuttle back to the ship, where I snagged this picture of the moon over the ship.

Joined my parents for dinner in the World Cafe, and then headed to their room. Our story then picks up with the post I already made.
