Still heading north to Alta, so still at sea. My sister and I were up around 8ish. Actually I was up from like 2 to 6. Jet lag and all.
Around 9 we checked in with the parents. Mom was up and going to get ready. Dad had been awake and apparently wandering the ship between 2 and 6, and was thus back sleeping.
A little after 10, my mom, sister and I met in the Explorer’s Lounge where Mansen’s is. Since the World Cafe closes at 10am, we enjoyed some breakfast there. My sister and I each got a waffle, and our mom a pastry.
At 1030am, the naturalist guest lecturer was leading a wildlife watch from the Explorer’s Lounge. Unfortunately the only thing we saw flying was a gashawk. Aka a plane. 🤪
Around 11am, dad was up and about and wanting some lunch. My sister headed to the gym, and I joined the parents in the World Cafe.

Afterward, we went back the Explorer’s Lounge where my sister joined us. She and I got some split pea soup from Mansen’s. And then it was time for some Line Dancing lessons, led by our cruise director Andre! Mom watched (Dad popped in for a few minutes), while my sister and I joined a lot of other passengers in learning 4 line dances. It was a lot of fun.
At 330pm, the parents attended a talk on Norwegian History, and then had tea in Wintergarden. Meanwhile my sister and I went again to enjoy the sauna and vitality/mineral pool in the spa.
At 530pm, we met in thhe Atrium for the Explorer’s Society- people who have cruised with Viking in the past for a celebratory toast. My sister and I slipped away to grab a snack from the World Cafe, before joining out parents back in the Star Theater for the talk, Whats a whale.

I ducked out for a bit and watched some of the presentation from my stateroom, before heading back for the end of the presentation.

I remember learning the various humpback whales migratory areas last year in Antarctica, and knowing they dont cross the equator.

Afterwards, we headed back to rhe World Cafe for dinner. And then off to bed.
We are expected to pull into Alta tomorrow midday. Alta is the northern most city in the world with a population of 10k. My sister and I have a non-viking excursion planned in the evening to search for the Northern Lights on a bus tour.
